University of Michigan Depression Center
The University of Michigan Depression Center is the first ever multi-disciplinary center dedicated to research, education, and treatment of depressive and bipolar illnesses. The Depression Center brings together the world-class resources from the U-M Health System and almost all of the U-M Schools and Colleges. The result: a unified approach to diagnosing, understanding, treating—and eventually preventing—depression. In addition to treatment services provided through the Department of Psychiatry Outpatient Clinics, the Depression Center offers free support groups for patients with depression and bipolar disorder, and family education workshops. Specialty programs within the Depression Center include the Heinz C. Prechter Bipolar Genes Project, the Sleep and Chronophysiology Laboratory, and the Psychiatric Neuromodulation Clinic.
