Anxiety Disorders Treatment Clinic
This clinic within the U-M Department of Psychiatry offers an integrated philosophy, featuring utilization of both psychological and pharmacological approaches to the treatment of problematic anxiety and stress. In addition to expertise in medications used to treat anxiety, we also offer a highly specialized Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment (CBT) Program. Specific CBT interventions are available for Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety (including test taking and performance fears), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Specific Phobias. We also have specific techniques for treating compulsive hair pulling (trichotillomania) or skin picking. The CBT therapies areoffered in both group and individual formats. They are structured, time-limited treatments with high success rates. We can treat many anxiety problems with CBT alone. Combined medication and CBT treatment may be advantageous for many patients and is readily available.
